Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set off on a pivotal international visit to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia between June 15 and 19, aimed at deepening India’s strategic partnerships and showcasing the country’s rising global influence.

The tour begins in Cyprus, the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in more than two decades.Modi’s discussions with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides are focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas like investment, fintech, defense collaboration, and digital innovation. He is also expected to meet Indian business leaders and professionals in the region.
The second leg takes the Prime Minister to Canada to attend the G7 Summit in Kananaskis. This global forum presents an important platform for India to share its perspective on global economic trends, the climate crisis, AI governance, and the concerns of developing nations. Despite recent diplomatic tensions, India and Canada are gradually rebuilding ties. Prime Minister Modi is expected to engage in sideline discussions with other world leaders and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The tour will conclude in Croatia, with Modi being the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the nation.His meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic is seen as a landmark moment in Indo-Croatian relations. The leaders are expected to explore new avenues for cooperation in education, defense technology, and tourism, as well as cultural exchanges, given the countries’ longstanding historical bonds.
