The journey begins in Ghana, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet President John Dramani Mahama. Ghana is an important ally within the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The discussions in Accra are expected to focus on enhancing collaboration in areas like investments, renewable energy, healthcare, security cooperation, skill development, and infrastructure. As a mark of democratic solidarity, the Prime Minister will address Ghana’s Parliament, showcasing India’s commitment to shared values and people-to-people bonds.
The next stop is Trinidad & Tobago, a nation where India shares deep ancestral ties that stretch back nearly two centuries. PM Modi will hold talks with President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, exploring new avenues for economic engagement, cultural exchange, and regional cooperation within the Caribbean community.
From Port of Spain, the visit moves to Argentina, marking the first standalone visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over half a century. Argentina is a crucial economic partner for India in Latin America, and a trusted collaborator within the G20. PM Modi’s meetings with President Javier Milei will likely touch upon joint ventures in agriculture, critical mineral supplies, energy, innovation, technology transfer, and tourism promotion.
A key highlight of the tour is participation in the BRICS Summit in Brazil on July 6-7. India, as a founding member, views BRICS as a vital platform for giving a collective voice to emerging economies. Besides attending summit sessions in Rio de Janeiro, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brasilia to expand cooperation on climate, trade, and sustainable growth, and to advance the shared vision for the Global South.
The final destination is Namibia, a country that India supported during its freedom struggle. The Prime Minister will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and address Namibia’s Parliament. The goal is to craft a modern partnership for development, technology exchange, and regional security.
This visit reflects India’s ambition to build stronger ties across continents, deepen South-South cooperation, and ensure the Global South has a louder voice in shaping global affairs.
