Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded The Sabarmati Report, a newly-released film exploring the events surrounding the 2002 Godhra train tragedy, for bringing out truths that resonate with the public.
Responding to a social media post about the Vikrant Massey-starrer, PM Modi wrote on X, “Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!”

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film revisits the Godhra train burning incident, which triggered widespread unrest across Gujarat in 2002. Modi, who was Gujarat’s Chief Minister at the time, has often been linked to the controversies surrounding the episode.
Released on Friday, The Sabarmati Report is inspired by real events and features a star cast including Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra. The film aims to shed new light on a highly debated chapter in recent Indian history.
As the film garners attention, PM Modi continues his diplomatic tour, beginning with Nigeria, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the nation in 17 years. His itinerary includes stops in Brazil and Guyana, with the trip concluding on November 21.
The movie’s release and Modi’s comments have reignited discussions on historical narratives and their representation in popular culture.
