  • He also rued the lack of developmental work in Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Pune to inaugurate the 1st phase of the Pune Metro Rail Project. He addressed the gathering with a speech. He praised Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for his proactiveness.

“The industrial development of Maharashtra has paved the way for the industrial development of India since independence. On the one hand, Maharashtra is making rapid strides while on the other, a government was formed in Karnataka by making hollow announcements. Now, the whole nation is witnessing what is happening in Bengaluru, a big IT hub and global investor centre. It was expected that Karnataka would make rapid progress but with the change of government, people there are suffering,” said the Prime Minister in Pune’s Police Ground area as reported by The Hindu.

He made a reference to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s statement that funds could not be allocated for development in the 1st year of the Congress rule. He labelled this, “political selfishness”. He also rued the lack of development work and increasing debts in the state of Rajasthan ruled by Congress. He also spoke about development projects undertaken by the central government building houses registered in the name of women making them “Lakhpati didis”. Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharasthra Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present for the inauguration.
