In the aftermath of the recent ceasefire agreement with Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead two high-level meetings on Wednesday, one with the Union Cabinet and another with the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). The Cabinet meeting is scheduled for 11 AM, followed by the CCS meeting, marking the first major strategic review since the ceasefire. These meetings come amid heightened alert following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s strong military retaliation under ‘Operation Sindoor.’

Key Discussions and Participation
The Cabinet meeting will see the participation of all Union Ministers, while the CCS gathering will include Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Senior officials from the Defence, Home, and External Affairs ministries are expected to present reports. Key decisions may be made based on the latest intelligence, including updates on border security, the progress of the Pahalgam attack investigation, and the post-Operation Sindoor strategy.
Third CCS Meet Since Pahalgam Attack
This marks the third CCS meeting since the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 civilian lives. The first meeting, held on April 23, vowed firm action against those responsible. The second meeting on April 30 focused on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, eventually leading to Operation Sindoor, a coordinated military offensive by the Army, Navy, and Air Force aimed at dismantling terrorist bases and sending a message to Pakistan.
Focus of the Day’s Agenda
Wednesday’s CCS meeting is expected to review the ceasefire’s ground impact along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border, evaluate future threats, and outline India’s next steps, diplomatic or military. Top military commanders, including the Chief of Defence Staff and service chiefs, are also expected to attend.
