Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) from Bikaner in Rajasthan today. This nationwide initiative, with a total investment exceeding Rs 1,100 crore, spans 86 districts across 18 states and Union Territories. It aims to modernize railway infrastructure while integrating regional architectural styles and improving accessibility and sustainability.

The ABSS targets over 1,300 stations for redevelopment across the country, prioritizing passenger comfort, especially for persons with disabilities. Five upgraded from Karnataka, Gadag, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Munirabad, and Gokak Road are part of this round of inaugurations.
Gadag Station, developed with Rs 23.24 crore, now includes a modern terminal, wide entry hall, designated vehicle parking, upgraded platforms with new shelters and toilets, Divyangjan-friendly features, and a 12-meter-wide foot overbridge with operational lifts and escalators.
Dharwad Station, improved at a cost of Rs 17.1 crore, features a new entry, modernized footbridge, lifts, escalators, digital signage, and accessible toilet facilities. The station plays a key role in linking passengers to cities like Pune, Goa, and Belagavi.
Bagalkot Station, redeveloped for Rs 16.06 crore, offers a redesigned building, enhanced waiting areas, upgraded platforms, and modern amenities, making it a major junction on the Gadag-Hotgi line.
Munirabad Station, in Koppal district, revamped for Rs 18.4 crore, now boasts larger shelters, modern architecture, enhanced parking, advanced passenger guidance systems, and Divyangjan-friendly amenities.
Gokak Road Station has also undergone improvements, focusing on enhancing comfort and operational efficiency for passengers.
