Police record statement of person who purchased sim card for Darshan

The police have accumulated ample evidence against Sandalwood actor Darshan also referred to as the Challenging in relation to the investigation pertaining to the murder of Renukaswamy. Reports indicate that the sim card used by Darshan around the time of Renukaswamy’s death has also been recovered by the police. The sim card supposedly does not belong to Darshan. The police are trying to ascertain the reason for using someone else’s sim card. The police have not revealed the identity of the owner of the sim card. 

The statement of the person who purchased the sim card has been recorded as per section 164 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). It is likely that this would be one of the major pieces of evidence that would be presented by the police while filing their chargesheet. It is being said that the person who purchased the sim card was traced through his other mobile number.

The visual comparison of the CCTV footage with the photographs of the suspects is taking place at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). There is a lack of clarity in some visuals as it was taken at night. An affidavit will be sought in accordance with section 65 of the Evidence Act.
