In a step towards transforming police stations into more accessible and people-friendly spaces, the West Division of Bengaluru Police has introduced child-friendly rooms at three key stations, Vijayanagar, Magadi Road, and Govindarajanagar as part of a pilot initiative.

These specially designed rooms are aimed at making children feel safe and comfortable when they visit police stations with their parents. The initiative, led by Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, is part of a broader mission to ensure greater sensitivity and support for vulnerable groups, including women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
The child-friendly spaces are equipped with toys, books, educational materials, and artwork to engage children and ease their anxiety. Stations are also displaying educational content about child safety, including lessons on good touch and bad touch, to raise awareness among both children and parents.
In addition to these child-focused efforts, the police have also taken steps to improve accessibility, such as installing ramps for wheelchair users and enhancing waiting areas. Libraries have also been added in several stations, providing a productive way for visitors to spend time.
According to officials, if successful, this pilot project will be replicated across other police stations in Bengaluru, continuing the push to build trust between the public and the police.
