Karnataka has emerged as the leading state in India with the highest Positive Talent Balance (PTB), according to a recent study by Xpheno, a Bengaluru-based staffing firm. The study, which spanned 12 months ending in October, indicates that Karnataka is one of only nine states to register a PTB during the period.

Haryana and Telangana secured the second and third spots, respectively. The report reveals that Karnataka’s active white-collar talent pool is 59.7 lakh, with 64% having a minimum of one year’s work experience.

The IT/ITeS sector is the largest contributor to Karnataka's workforce, employing over 37% of the state’s white-collar professionals, or approximately 14.3 lakh people. Other significant sectors include BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance), Business Consulting, Accounting, and Automotive industries.

Karnataka’s PTB of 63,500 was driven by 1,36,500 professionals moving to the state, while 73,000 relocated elsewhere. Notably, Karnataka continues to attract talent, with 32 lakh jobseekers from across India, including 17 lakh from major cities, showing a preference for the state’s employment opportunities.

The study underscores Karnataka’s growing prominence as a hub for skilled professionals, with strong inbound talent interest driving its impressive PTB.
