The accused, identified as postal assistant Pavithra, is alleged to have duped five individuals, Jayamma, Rashmi, Ratnamma, Nagaraju, and Mehak Arebina. According to the complaint, Pavithra promised these customers that their savings account money would be invested in schemes like the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and Special Senior Citizen Accounts, offering higher returns. Misleading them with false information, she obtained their signatures and then withdrew the funds for her personal use.
The fraud came to light after ASP Harsha, a senior postal officer, filed a formal complaint. Based on this, an FIR has been registered at the Banashankari Police Station. The accused allegedly manipulated the customers into transferring their money by offering attractive but fake investment opportunities.
Police officials have launched a full-scale investigation to track the flow of money and verify the extent of the fraud. Internal departmental inquiries have also been initiated to determine any additional lapses or accomplices.
