David Fincher was initially in talks with the “Paramount” studio for the film. But this was way back in 2007. Currently, the film will be released under the banner of Netflix. Initially Brad Pitt was in talks to play the lead role of the assassin but Micheal Fassbender will essay the role in the film.
The poster of the film was released recently along with a tagline of what the story would entail.
“After a fateful near-miss an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn't personal,” the synopsis reads. Deep existential crisis and moral dilemmas have been a recurrent theme in David Fincher’s films and his expertise in dealing with these topics would make him an ideal choice for directing the film. The film will release on the online streaming platform on November 10th, later this year. This would be after a brief stint in the theatres between October 27th to November 10th in select locations across the world.
The film is based on a French graphic novel also named “Killer”. With David Fincher’s Mindhunter having been cancelled abruptly after 2 seasons by Netflix much to the disappointment of fans, the anticipation towards this project is at an all time high.
