Bengaluru’s roads have once again turned hazardous following the recent pre-monsoon rains, with large potholes reappearing across key areas of the city. The sudden downpours have worsened road conditions, leading to multiple accidents over the past few days.

On May 19, a goods vehicle got stuck in a deep pothole at Muthanalluru Cross near Sarjapur, disrupting traffic and highlighting the vulnerability of heavily used roads. The very next day, on May 20, a two-wheeler rider met with an accident in Thubarahalli, Mahadevapura, after his bike plunged into a pothole. The rider sustained serious injuries to his leg and was rushed to the hospital.
On May 21, yet another incident was reported from Jigani, where a BMTC bus got stuck in a pothole, causing inconvenience to passengers and slowing traffic movement in the area.
Residents have raised concerns over the lack of timely road maintenance and fear that the situation may worsen as the monsoon approaches. Civic bodies are under increasing pressure to take immediate action to fix potholes before they lead to more serious accidents.
Despite repeated complaints and past incidents, poor road quality continues to pose a threat to public safety.
