Prabhas’ upcoming multi starrer feature set in the future; titled Kalki 2898 AD; teaser released

Previously tentatively titled Project K, Vyjayanthi Movies, the production company behind the project has settled on the name Kalki 2898 AD. The teaser was released in the San Diego Comic Con. The teaser was shared by both Vyjayanthi Movies and Prabhas on their Instagram handles. Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan also feature as part of the ensemble cast. A huge list of other renowned figures such as Dulqer Salmaan , Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Rana Daggubati and Pasupathi also have a role in the film. 

“When the world is taken over by darkness, A force will raise, The end begins now” the text on the teaser reads, and one is compelled to draw parallels to the Bhagwath Geetha Shloka, “ Yadha yadha hi dharmasya glaanir bhavathi bharatha, abhyuthanam adharmasya thadathmanam srijam aham” ( Whenever there is a moral derailment of the society, I will take form to vanquish the immoral forces). A man, seemingly western, asks “What is project K ?” towards the end. The aesthetics and the theme are eerily reminiscent of the 2017 film, “Blade Runner 2047” starring Ryan Gosling and directed by the auteur Denis Villeneuve. This is however well tailored to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience with significant emphasis on mythological elements. A figurine of what appears to be Kalki is also seen in the trailer, after “A force will raise” is played on the screen.
