Actor Prakash Raj has taken legal action against Prashant Sambargi for allegedly spreading misinformation using AI-generated images. Speaking in Mangaluru, Raj clarified that he did not visit the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and accused Sambargi of fabricating images showing him taking a holy dip in the river.

Raj expressed concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that while AI is a remarkable technological advancement, its unethical use for propaganda is unacceptable. "Some people falsely claimed that I went to the Kumbh Mela. Such actions reflect their mindset. Spreading falsehoods through AI is inexcusable," he stated, adding that the same tactics were used against politician Akhilesh Yadav.
Addressing allegations of being anti-religious, Raj clarified his stance. "My friends invited me to the Kumbh Mela, but I do not believe in religion. However, I respect harmony and others' beliefs. True Hindus do not politicize religion, but unfortunately, some have turned religious rituals into political tools," he said.
The viral AI-generated images sparked controversy before being debunked as digitally manipulated. Raj has now filed a case against Sambargi, urging authorities to curb the spread of misinformation.
With AI-generated fake news becoming a growing concern, Raj's legal move highlights the need for stricter regulations on digital manipulation and its impact on public perception.
