Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi’s statements have become a source of controversy in Karnataka. He compared the recently elected Congress government to the Islamic State of Iraq and The Levant (ISIS) government. “For the appeasement of a community, they are willing to mete out injustice to another community. This is the logical conclusion of appeasement politics. I have been saying this from day 1. This is an ISIS Government. This is exactly how the Taliban runs the administration in Afghanistan. The citizens of Karnataka will not entertain such tactics,” he stated.
The Minister of Labour Department of Karnataka Santosh Lad demanded an apology from Pralhad Joshi. “Pralhad Joshi who spoke in Dharwad is a 4-time MP and a Central Minister. Chief Minister Siddarmaiah did arise out of nowhere. Your party runs the Central Government. How can you make such statements when your party has the power in the centre? The BJP solely runs on the agenda of Hindutva,” he said.
Pralhad Joshi also commented on the complaints by the state leaders that a devolution of funds has been reduced from the Central Government. He remarked that over the last 9 and a half years, there has been a 244 percent increase in the amount released in comparison to the previous 10 years marked by the rule of the United Progressive Alliance. “I dare the chief minister to come for a debate on funds being released by the central government for housing schemes and irrigation schemes in the state. Let him place his stats on these and we will also expose him with facts and data,” Joshi remarked.
