Price hike hits common people in Karnataka: Costlier milk, electricity, and tolls from tomorrow

Starting tomorrow, milk, electricity, and toll charges will see a price hike, adding to the financial burden on common people already struggling with rising costs and scorching heat.

Milk prices will increase by ₹4 per liter, impacting household expenses. Meanwhile, electricity tariffs will rise by 36 paise per unit for the 2025-26 financial year, followed by 35 paise in 2026-27 and 34 paise in 2027-28, making power bills steadily more expensive.

Toll charges on major highways will also increase by 5%, affecting commuters and transport costs. At BETPL toll plazas, the new rates are as follows:

  • Cars/Jeeps/Vans: ₹37 (single journey), ₹58 (return)

  • LCVs: ₹63 (single), ₹95 (return)

  • Buses/Trucks: ₹131 (single), ₹194 (return)

  • Multi-axle vehicles: ₹273-₹735 (single), ₹404-₹1,107 (return)

With these rising costs, households and businesses will have to adjust budgets accordingly. As inflation continues to bite, people are bracing for higher living expenses in the coming months.
