WhatsApp is intensifying its privacy measures by introducing a new feature aimed at preventing users from taking screenshots of others’ profile pictures. 

Initially rolled out for Android users in March, this move signifies the platform’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user privacy. The feature is now reportedly in development for iOS users as well, as revealed by a recent report from WA Beta Info, a reputable source for WhatsApp updates.

According to the report, the latest beta version for iOS, numbered 24.10.10.70 and accessible via TestFlight, showcases the implementation of security measures to restrict screenshot capabilities. Once launched, iOS users attempting to capture profile pictures will be met with a notification informing them of the restriction, citing privacy protection as the primary rationale.

Although this feature may not entirely eliminate misuse, it represents a significant stride in safeguarding users’ personal information from unauthorized dissemination. By limiting the ability to capture and share profile pictures, WhatsApp aims to mitigate privacy risks associated with the platform.
