  • BJP Karnataka accused Kharge of endangering Hindu women to online mobs
  • Priyank Kharge informed them that they would receive a legal notice
  • Tejasvi Surya asks Priyank Kharge to stick to his duty as a minister

BJP’s (Bharatiya Janata Party) Karnataka unit made allegations, on the Minister of IT/BT (Information Technology/ Bio-Technology), Priyank Kharge, stating that he has unleashed an online mob on Hindu women, emboldened extremist elements and that he is using the guise of “fact checking” to back and fund forces that question the “anti-Hindu Siddaramaiah government”.

Priyank Kharge responded to this by asking why BJP is afraid of a fact checking committee and if their party would crumble if their lies are exposed. He informed them that they would receive a legal notice for making unsubstantiated claims.

Tejasvi Surya replied to this by saying that Priyank Kharge must stick to his duty as a minister and not intimidate people for speaking the truth and that  the attempt of Congress to curtail freedom of speech will not be effective in a court of law. Priyank Kharge responded to this by saying he also heads communications for the party and asked him to instead focus on his duty as an Mp by holding the central government responsible for unpaid dues with regard to the MNREGA (The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee) scheme. To this he said that Priyank Kharge did not understand the mechanism of the central grants disbursal process and that the MNREGA has seen a 100% increase in funds compared to 2014. To this Priyank Kharge asked him to stick to the facts regarding whether Rs 1300 crore was owed to Karnataka or not and whether the Prime Minister had called MNREGA a failure of the UPA or not.
