  • Kumaraswamy with 2 MPs is a Cabinet Minister: Priyanka
  • Niti is only to stay in power: Priyanka
  • 11 Union Ministers were special invitees

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government on July 12th had reconstituted the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) with 4 full time members and 15 Union Ministers of which 11 were special invitees. The number of special invitees increased by 6 in comparison to the previous iteration.

Many of the NDA allies apart from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were accommodated through this process. This included the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)), Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM), Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

This has however caused a turmoil in Maharashtra politics as a key ally of the NDA, Shiv Sena (SS)  did not receive any nomination. “Manjhi with one MP gets a cabinet Minister rank and special invite to be part of NITI Ayog. Chirag Paswan with 5 MPs is a cabinet minister and a special invitee to NITI Ayog. HD Kumaraswamy with 2 MPs is a cabinet Minister and a special invitee in the NITI Ayog too. Eknath Shinde with 7 MPs gets MoS and no special invite to NITI Ayog. When Niti is only to stay in power by hook or by crook one should be happy with crumbs thrown their way,” Deputy Leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackery) (SS(UBT)) faction Priyanka Chaturvedi stated on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
