After facing ridicule from Congress over drawing electricity from a wire for festive lightings on the occasion of Deepavali, Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka, Kumaraswamy has hit back at the Congress with a strong allegation pertaining to exemptions granted to the Lulu Mall by the government. “The Congress functionaries have labelled me as an electricity thief, but they should look at the bigger thief who sits next to them. When the Lulu Mall was being constructed, the promoters had not paid electricity bills for six months. Have they paid any fines? They should explain how the high-tension line went underground and who was behind it,” Kumaraswamy said at a press conference on 17th November.

Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar refuted the allegations and stated that he is in a position to provide all receipts pertaining to this transaction. “Kumaraswamy has lost his mental balance. He is talking rubbish in desperation. I am not scared of hollow threats and blackmail. The Lulu Mall land belonged to a central government organisation. How can it be illegal land? One of my friends had purchased the land from the government body. I purchased it from them and the mall is being jointly developed. Hang me if you find any wrongdoing,” he stated.
