The state government has issued an order extending the 5% rebate on property tax payments until May 31. Typically, the BBMP offers a 5% discount on property tax payments made between April 1 and April 30 each year. However, this year, property owners who pay during the month of May will also be eligible for the same benefit.

The extension of the rebate comes as a relief to thousands of taxpayers who may have missed the original April 30 deadline. With this new government directive, property owners now have an additional month to avail themselves of the discount without any penalty.

This move is aimed at encouraging timely tax payments and easing the financial burden on property owners amid various economic challenges. The state government’s decision is expected to boost collections while offering some breathing room to citizens.

BBMP has welcomed the order and is urging property owners to take advantage of the extension and complete their payments within the revised deadline. The 5% rebate will automatically apply to all payments made before or on May 31.
