In a dramatic moment that has sparked widespread attention, Pakistan’s military has openly acknowledged its involvement in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, which killed 40 Indian paramilitary personnel. The admission came from Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed, Director General Public Relations of the Pakistan Air Force, during a press conference attended by both domestic and foreign media. Referring to the Pulwama incident as an act of " Tactical brilliance," Ahmed shattered years of Pakistan’s denials and contradicts their long-standing narrative of innocence.

Ahmed’s remarks were delivered with senior military officials, including DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, present. Notably, Chaudhry is the son of nuclear scientist Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood, known for his links with al-Qaida. The statement also undermines Pakistan’s denials regarding the recent Pahalgam attack, further exposing the military’s covert role in cross-border terrorism.
India has consistently held Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) responsible for the Pulwama attack, supported by evidence linking the attacker Adil Ahmad Dar to the JeM base in Bahawalpur, which India targeted in its Balakot airstrikes. While earlier, in 2020, former minister Fawad Chaudhry admitted to the attack in Parliament, Aurangzeb's confession is more significant as it comes directly from the military, Pakistan's true power center.
