A case has been registered against a man in Pune for secretly recording videos of his wife while she was bathing and later using those clips to blackmail her. The woman alleged that her husband demanded ₹1.5 lakh from her saying he needed the money to pay off his home and car loan EMIs. He allegedly threatened to leak the bathing videos online if she didn’t get the money from her parents. Police confirmed that the footage was used as a tool to pressure and harass her as well.

The couple got married in 2020 and both work in Pune. In her statement, the woman also said that she was subjected to regular mental and physical abuse. She further accused seven of her in-laws, including her husband’s parents, siblings and other relatives of dowry harassment. She also claimed they consistently pressured her to bring money and a car from her parental home after the marriage.

No arrest has been made so far but investigations are ongoing and officials said appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.

The case also sheds light on continued privacy violations and dowry-related abuse faced by women within households.
