The much-anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, has taken the box office by storm even before its release. Advance bookings for the film, which opened on December 1 at midnight, have already grossed over ₹10 crore within 12 hours, making it one of the fastest starts in Indian cinema history.

According to Sacnilk, over 3 lakh tickets for the opening day have already been sold, surpassing benchmarks set by recent blockbusters like Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Yash's KGF Chapter 2. For context, Pathaan sold less than 2 lakh tickets in the first 12 hours earlier this year, while KGF Chapter 2 sold 1.25 lakh tickets for its Hindi-dubbed version in the same timeframe. By noon on December 1, Pushpa 2 had sold 1.8 lakh tickets for its Hindi version alone.
The film raked in ₹5.5 crore from its Hindi advance bookings and ₹3 crore from its Telugu sales, with other regional languages also contributing significantly. Industry experts predict the pre-sales will cross a million tickets before its release on December 5, potentially surpassing the ₹58.73 crore advance booking record set by RRR.
The big question remains whether Pushpa 2 can challenge the reigning advance booking champions, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and KGF Chapter 2. With Baahubali 2 collecting ₹90 crore and KGF Chapter 2 ₹80 crore in pre-sales for day one, Pushpa 2 seems poised to make history if its current momentum holds.
As single-screen theatres in Telugu regions opened bookings on Sunday afternoon, rapid sellouts further fueled speculation of an all-time record-breaking opening.
