Puttur: 18-year-old stabbed to death by ex-boyfriend

Padmaraj had been in a relationship with Gauri for over 4 years.  Gauri worked in a fancy store in the KSRTC bus stand in Puttur. Padmaraj operated JCB excavators for a living. Gauri belonged to Adale in the Kuddu Padavu village whereas Padmaraj belonged to Naibilu near Mani Nalkaru village.

The relationship had turned sour of late. Gauri had registered a complaint against Padmaraj on one instance before. The police have stated that there was a pressure on Gauri to get married to Padmaraj. On the fateful day, Gauri had apparently called up her mother upon being followed by Padmaraj. However a serious argument had broken before her mother could arrive. Gauri was on her way to the local police station. 

Padmaraj is said to have pushed her to the wall of the women’s police station and stabbed her multiple times and fled the spot. She was taken to the nearby hospital but had succumbed to her injuries. 

Padmaraj meanwhile had abandoned his bike but by tracking his mobile phone he was apprehended in Mavinkatte within 2 hours of the incident. He has booked under section 302 of the IPC.
