PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi expresses dissatisfaction at ‘people who came from BJP’ despite daughter’s victory

The Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) of Karnataka Satish Jarkiholi remarked that those who have come from the BJP haven’t worked well in the elections. Satish’s daughter Priyanka Jarkiholi however emerged successful by winning with a margin of 90,834 votes in the Chikkodi constituency. His remarks were in light of a diminished lead in the Athani segment of the constituency. 

His remarks are being seen as being directed towards the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lakshman Savadi who shifted to the INC before the Vidhana Sabha Elections in 2023 from the BJP. “This election was challenging. Our work in the district and the appreciation which people have for CM Siddaramaiah helped us in winning the election. We employed strategies. Our political experience helped us in securing a win. The guarantee schemes have played a role but a Lok Sabha Election is different from a state election,” Satish remarked.

Mrinal Hebbalkar the son of the Minister of Women and Child Development of Karnataka Lakshmi Hebbalkar contested in the Belgaum constituency from the Indian National Congress (INC) in the 2024 Lok Sabha Election by 178437 votes to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Jagadish Shettar. Lakshmi is reported to have been upset by this result.
