Sandalwood actress Rachita Ram has taken a subtle yet firm stand against veteran Tamil actor Kamal Haasan, who recently sparked outrage with his controversial statement about the origins of the Kannada language. Without naming Haasan directly, Rachita posted a video on Instagram voicing her sentiments through a patriotic Kannada song.
In the video, Rachita is seen singing a popular Kannada song, meaning ‘Be anywhere, always be a Kannada forever," adding, “You all know why I’m singing this. Every Kannadiga becomes emotional when it comes to Kannada and Karnataka.”

Emphasizing the inclusive nature of Kannadigas, she said, “We watch and support films in all languages. But when someone disrespects our language, we cannot remain silent. We have never spoken ill of any language — we respect all. So why shouldn't we defend ours?”
She also posed a pointed question: “when younger ones are expected to apologize for mistakes, why can’t adults? What’s wrong with apologizing after saying something hurtful?”
Rachita further encouraged Kannadigas to proudly celebrate Kannada and their cultural identity, especially during Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1. “We teach Kannada to others. Let’s respond appropriately to those who belittle it,” she urged.
Her message resonates strongly amid the growing public anger in Karnataka, with many seeing her remarks as a dignified yet powerful rebuttal to Kamal Haasan’s comments.
