In a surprising turn at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Maharaja T20 Trophy auction, Samit Dravid — son of Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid — went unsold. Samit, who represented the Mysore Warriors last season, managed only 82 runs in seven matches, which may have influenced the decision of franchise owners.

Despite the setback for the young Dravid, the auction saw intense bidding for several top players. Devdutt Padikkal emerged as the highest-priced player, snapped up by Hubballi Tigers for ₹13.20 lakh. Manish Pandey followed closely, going to Mysore Warriors for ₹12.20 lakh. All-rounder Abhinav Manohar was also picked up by the Hubballi Tigers for ₹12.20 lakh.
Among bowlers, pacer Vidhwat Kaverappa was signed by Shivamogga Lions for ₹10.80 lakh, while leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal joined Mangalore Dragons for ₹8.60 lakh.
Teams also retained key players ahead of the auction. Mangalore Dragons held on to Abhilash Shetty, McNeil Noronha, Lochan Gowda, and Paras Arya. The Bangalore Blasters retained Mayank Agarwal, Shubhang Hegde, Naveen MG, and Suraj Ahuja.
The Maharaja T20 Trophy remains a crucial platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their talent. For players like Samit Dravid, missing out on selection may be a temporary setback, but strong domestic performances can still alter their career trajectory in future seasons.
