The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India U-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia U-19 on Saturday, August 31. Among the selected players is 18-year-old Samit Dravid, the son of cricketing legend and former India head coach Rahul Dravid. Samit has been included in both the red-ball and white-ball teams, marking a significant step in his cricketing career.

Recently, Samit featured in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, representing Mysuru Warriors. However, the right-handed batter had a challenging stint, scoring just 82 runs from seven innings at an average of 11.71 and a strike rate of 113.88. His best performance in the tournament came against Gulbarga Mystics, where he scored 33 off 24 balls, including four boundaries and a six.

In the upcoming series, Uttar Pradesh’s Mohamed Amaan has been appointed as the captain of the One-Day squad, while Soham Patwardhan will lead the team in the four-day matches. The India U-19 team will face Australia U-19 in three 50-over matches scheduled for September 21, 23, and 26 in Puducherry, followed by two four-day matches starting on September 30 in Chennai.

This series is expected to be a critical platform for young talents like Samit Dravid to showcase their potential on an international stage.
