Currently, the airport is accessible via Metro Rail, road, and the K-RIDE suburban railway project, a joint venture between the Centre and the state government. Vaishnaw recalled his recent train journey from the airport, noting that while it was a comfortable 40–45-minute ride, technical hurdles, including the need for a rail flyover, had to be resolved. The project team has now completed the required groundwork, and details will soon be shared, he added.

Regarding Bengaluru’s suburban rail project, Vaishnaw criticised the state government’s handling, citing a lack of technical expertise and the absence of a full-time Managing Director from the Railway cadre. He urged the appointment of qualified personnel in key engineering sectors to accelerate progress.

Additionally, Vaishnaw confirmed that the concept of a circular rail network around Bengaluru is now finalised, aiming to enhance urban mobility. He stressed the need for collaboration between the Centre and the state to ensure smooth implementation.
