Bengaluru grappled with a relentless rainstorm that began late last night and continued into the early hours, causing significant disruptions throughout the city. Heavy rains inundated several key areas, including KR Market, JC Road, Vijayanagar, and Kamakshipalya, leading to widespread damage and transportation chaos.
One of the most severe impacts was observed at the Okalipuram underpass, where water stagnation halted ambulances. This disruption affected a patient from Hassan, who was en route to Victoria Hospital for urgent treatment.

In Chikkapet, the situation was equally dire as the road in front of the metro station was completely submerged under approximately two feet of water. Motorists struggled to navigate through the submerged streets, with one vehicle trapped on Silk Board and water obstructing access to KR Market and surrounding areas like Sultan Pete, Balepet, and Cotton Pet.
The rainfall, which began around 2 AM, caused major thoroughfares to flood, impeding movement for morning commuters and office workers. Water entered low-lying residential areas and some apartments, exacerbating the distress for many residents.
Notable incidents included a tree branch falling on a car in Govindarajanagar and a rickshaw breaking down at the Jayadeva Hospital underpass, where the driver was seen pushing the vehicle through the water. Additionally, a scooter broke down, leading to a collision at the same location. A compound collapse near HAL resulted in water intrusion into an apartment.
With continuous rain expected, the city's infrastructure remains under significant strain as residents and officials brace for further challenges.
While the city reels under the consequences of the rain, big talks that include Brand Bengaluru are under severe criticism from several quarters.
