A media outlet had been gauging audience response in a theatre outside Mysuru for the Raj B Shetty starrer, Toby which had released on 25th August. A woman had mentioned to the outlet that the movie had failed to generate any interest in her.

A fan took severe offence to this statement and hurled abuses at her over this. He asked her if she was born to a Kannadiga or to 100 people. He remarked that she should be hit with slippers for this and kept demanding that she elaborate on what exactly she did not like about the film. He was joined by 2 others who constantly heckled her until she left the premises of the theatre.

The interaction was caught on video. The video had then subsequently become viral on the internet. The lead actor of the film, Raj B Shetty also came across this video. He condemned the actions of the fan and offered an unconditional apology to the woman for what she had to go through.

He dissociated himself from the fan saying that he is not in any way related to the film or the production unit. He reiterated that everyone has a right to hold subjective opinions of a film that is derived from their experience. The ticket cost for someone who enjoyed the film and someone who did not remains the same, he stated.
