In a significant legal development, the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court has lifted a stay imposed by a commercial court, clearing the path for the release of Alia Bhatt’s much-anticipated film Jigra on Friday, October 11.
The interim order, passed on Thursday, October 10, by a division bench comprising Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati and Justice Munnuri Laxman, overturned the earlier ruling that temporarily halted the film's release.

The high court’s order came after Dharma Productions, the film's producer, challenged the commercial court's October 8 decision, which granted an injunction on the film’s release following a trademark infringement claim by Bhallaram Choudhary. Choudhary argued that the movie’s title infringed upon his trademark for the term "Jigra" in the education and entertainment sector.
However, the high court found that the film’s title did not violate trademark laws, as the production house was not engaging in trade under the name "Jigra" but rather using it solely for a movie title. The court also emphasized that any potential financial loss to Dharma Productions would be unjust, suggesting that damages could be considered later if necessary.
The case will continue to be heard, with the next hearing scheduled for October 16.
