The entire nation has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent tourists, mostly Hindus, were brutally killed by Pakistani militants. In response, the Indian government has taken stern retaliatory steps against Pakistan. One of the immediate measures was the closure of the Attari-Wagah border and a 48 hour ultimatum issued to Pakistanis living in India to return home.

This sudden border shutdown has disrupted lives beyond political spheres. A man from Rajasthan, Shaitan Singh, faced a deeply personal tragedy when his wedding was canceled. Singh had planned to travel to Pakistan this week with a wedding procession to marry his Pakistani fiancée. However, with the closure of the border, he and his wedding party were turned back, forcing the couple to cancel their marriage plans.
Shaitan Singh expressed his disappointment, saying that while terrorists were clearly in the wrong, the border closure has unfairly affected people like him who had no part in the violence. “Now we can only wait and see what happens. There’s no other option,” he said.
