A girl in Bharatpur in Rajasthan was born with 26 fingers. She has 7 fingers in each hand and 6 toes in each foot. 

The doctors have called this a genetic aberration. The implication of this is that even though the condition is not lethal or detrimental to the health of an individual, its manifestation is not common. 

“There is no harm of any kind in having 26 fingers but it is a genetic anomaly. The girl is absolutely healthy,” said Dr. BS Soni as per a report in India Today. 

The baby had a premature birth when her 25-year-old mother was just 8 months pregnant. 

Meanwhile the family is elated with the news of the newborn. They are considering her to be an incarnation of Dholagrah Devi. Dholagrah Devi is a revered god across the Alvar region of Rajasthan. 

The girl’s uncle said, “My sister has given birth to a baby who has 26 fingers and we are considering it to be the incarnation of Dholagarh Devi. We are very happy,” as per a report in India Today. 

The girl’s father Gopal Bhattacharya serves as a head constable with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
