The much-anticipated film Vettaiyan, featuring iconic actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, opened in theaters on October 10 and made a powerful debut at the box office.

According to Sacnilk, the film grossed an impressive ₹30 crore across India on its first day. The Tamil version dominated the earnings, contributing ₹26.15 crore, while the Telugu shows brought in ₹3.2 crore. The Hindi and Kannada versions earned ₹60 lakh and ₹50 lakh respectively.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan had a strong Tamil audience turnout, with a reported 59.43% occupancy on day one. Alongside Rajinikanth and Bachchan, the cast includes popular actors Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and VJ Rakshan.

The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan after 33 years, their last appearance together being in the 1991 hit Hum. At Vettaiyan's audio launch, Rajinikanth shared a heartfelt tribute to Bachchan, recalling the latter's resilience during a financial crisis, working tirelessly to repay his debts.

Vettaiyan follows the gripping tale of Kanyakumari’s SP Athiyan, who is drawn into a web of conspiracy while investigating a drug case. Produced by A Subaskaran and GKM Tamil Kumaran under Sun Pictures, the film is a high-octane drama blending action with social themes.
