Rajinikanth touches Yogi Adithyanath’s feet; internet divided

Rajinikanth,superstar in Tamil cinema had met the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath at his residence in Lucknow.  “I will watch the film with the CM. It's God's blessing that the movie is becoming a hit”, Rajinikanth said, in an interaction with the ANI.  A special screening of ‘Jailer’ was held in Uttar Pradesh which was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Maurya. Rajinikanth also met with governor Anandiben Patel. He is scheduled to reach Ayodhya later in the week. 

Meanwhile, during his interaction with Yogi Adityanath, Rajinikanth touched his feet. This has led to a whole range of reactions on the internet. Some had made explicit references to his film Kaala, wherein a primary conflict between the protagonist played by Rajinikanth and the antagonist was over the former’s refusal to touch the feet of the latter. Others have also pointed out the age difference between the 2. Rajinikanth is 72 years old. Yogi Adityanath is 51 years old. It was being said that the act was against the pre existing norms in the nation. 

However others had come in defence of the superstar. They pointed out that he is a deeply spiritual person. They stated that the act was merely a gesture in good faith which is being taken out of context by the nay-sayers.
