A much-anticipated cinematic retelling of the Indian epic Ramayana is officially underway, and the project is already making waves with its all-star cast and grand scale. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame, the film will feature an ensemble of top Bollywood and South Indian actors, with music by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and India’s own A R Rahman.

The first look of the film has already been unveiled, and now the complete cast lineup has been revealed. Ranbir Kapoor will take on the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi will portray Sita. In a powerful and unexpected casting, Rocking Star Yash will appear as the demon king Ravana.

Other major cast members include Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Amitabh Bachchan as Jatayu, Anil Kapoor as King Janak, and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha. Veteran actor Arun Govil, famously known for playing Ram in the iconic TV version, will portray King Dasharatha. Vivek Oberoi plays Vidyutjihva, while Kajol Aggarwal will be seen as Mandodari. Mohit Raina steps into the role of Lord Shiva. The cast also includes Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Vikrant Massey as Meghnad.

Adding further intrigue, Hollywood stunt director Gaynor Norris has joined the technical team, raising expectations for world-class action and visual storytelling. The film will be made in two parts, aiming to bring a mythological universe to life on a scale never seen before in Indian cinema.

With a Diwali 2027 release, this magnum opus is poised to become a landmark in Indian and global filmmaking.
