Ram Navami celebrated amid tight security in West Bengal; BJP holds 50 grand processions

Ram Navami celebrations across West Bengal saw large-scale participation today, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organizing 50 major processions across the state. The day, marking the birth of Lord Ram, is being observed with religious fervor and enthusiasm, especially in Bengal where both Ram Navami and Durga Puja are celebrated widely.

In view of the large gatherings, security arrangements have been significantly heightened. Over 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across sensitive regions including Kolkata, Howrah, Siliguri, Malda, and Murshidabad. Police Commissioner Manoj Verma, along with senior officers, conducted inspections in vulnerable zones to ensure law and order.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed for calm and urged all political and religious groups to conduct the festivities peacefully. "Everyone has the right to celebrate, but peace must prevail," she said.

The BJP's decision to hold processions across 50 locations has prompted authorities to remain on high alert, especially given past incidents of communal tension during festivals. Hindu organizations and political parties participating in the processions have been asked to cooperate with security forces to prevent any untoward incidents.

With vigilance at its peak, the administration is determined to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state. The coordinated efforts of the police and civil administration aim to make this year's Ram Navami incident-free, fostering harmony amidst grand festivities.
