Sandalwood actress and former MP Ramya has taken legal action against a group of self-proclaimed Darshan fans for making obscene and sexually charged comments against her on social media. The incident came after she shared a critical post regarding actor Darshan’s bail in the Renukaswamy murder case, which triggered a wave of vulgar abuse from several Instagram users.

The FIR includes serious charges under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS):

- BNS 351(3) – Sexual harassment
- BNS 352 – Physical harassment against a woman’s will
- BNS 75(1)(4) – Conspiracy in criminal conduct
- BNS 79 – Serious criminal behavior
- Alongside sections from the IT Act like Section 66 (unauthorized system access) and Section 67 (uploading obscene content), which carry penalties of up to 5 years imprisonment and heavy fines.
Ramya, often hailed as the “Sandalwood Queen,” has declared that she will not remain silent against online harassment and is committed to fighting such toxic fan culture legally. Her strong response has been seen as a wake-up call to those who misuse social media platforms for abuse under the guise of fan loyalty.
