South Indian cinema powerhouses Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan are joining forces for a new film, Kaantha. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the movie is set against the backdrop of 1950s Madras, now known as Chennai, and promises to delve into the complexities of human relationships during a period of societal transformation.

The project, a collaboration between Daggubati's Spirit Media and Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, was officially launched with a puja ceremony at Rama Naidu Studios in Hyderabad. Telugu superstar Venkatesh Daggubati gave the inaugural clap, marking an exciting beginning for this multilingual cinematic venture. The film will feature Dulquer Salmaan alongside Bhagyashree and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.

Rana Daggubati expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying that partnering with Wayfarer Films adds a new dimension to Kaantha. It aligns perfectly with Spirit Media's vision as they celebrate the 60th anniversary of Suresh Productions and embark on a new era.

Dulquer Salmaan, both the lead actor and producer, said that this is a beautifully layered story that offers a deep exploration of human emotions and is excited to begin this journey with Spirit Media.

Director Selvamani Selvaraj emphasized that they aim to transport audiences to a bygone era, telling a story that resonates with modern sensibilities while capturing the essence of 1950s Madras.
