Renowned actress Rani Mukherji is gearing up to return as the formidable Shivani Shivaji Roy in the next installment of the critically acclaimed ‘Mardaani’ franchise.

Mukherji, celebrated for her powerful performances in films like ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway,’ ‘Hichki,’ and ‘No One Killed Jessica,’ will once again embody the role of the fearless police officer, continuing the legacy of one of Indian cinema’s most iconic female-led series.

The ‘Mardaani’ series, which began in 2014, has solidified itself as a significant force in Bollywood, showcasing Mukherji’s portrayal of a determined cop battling crime and corruption. Production for the next ‘Mardaani’ film is set to begin in early 2025, with Mukherji and Yash Raj Films (YRF) at the helm. A source close to the project reportedly revealed that the script, developed by an in-house team of writers, has recently been finalized and is now in the pre-production stage. The upcoming film is expected to feature a formidable antagonist, continuing the tradition of introducing compelling villains.
