Actor Ranya Rao has come under the scanner for allegedly smuggling large quantities of gold from Dubai to India, with investigators suspecting her involvement in a wider criminal network.

According to sources, Rao, who has appeared in three films, made approximately 30 trips to Dubai in the past year, smuggling gold each time. Authorities believe she earned Rs 1 lakh per kilogram of gold smuggled, amounting to an estimated Rs 12-13 lakh per trip.

Investigations suggest that Rao used specially modified jackets and waist belts to discreetly transport the gold past airport security. A police constable stationed at the airport is also under scrutiny for allegedly assisting her in bypassing security checks.

Law enforcement agencies had been monitoring the actor for several weeks due to her frequent international travels. The authorities now suspect that Rao was working with a larger smuggling syndicate, potentially involving high-profile businessmen, political figures, and law enforcement officers.

The case has raised concerns about the extent of gold smuggling networks operating in India and the possible involvement of influential individuals. Authorities are expected to make further arrests as they deepen their probe into the smuggling operation.

Meanwhile, Rao has not yet issued an official statement regarding the allegations. Investigators continue to gather evidence as the case unfolds.
