Authorities had been monitoring Rao for some time due to her frequent travel to Dubai, suspecting her involvement in smuggling activities. Reports indicate that she has visited the city 30 times in the past year, including four trips within 15 days, allegedly smuggling gold on multiple occasions. Investigators have also found that she has traveled extensively across Europe, America, and the Middle East.

Following her confession, Rao reportedly sought time to rest before sharing further details with the authorities. While she has assured full cooperation in the investigation, she has not disclosed additional information regarding her alleged smuggling activities or possible accomplices.

Rao is the stepdaughter of Ramachandra Rao, Director General of Police (Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation), adding further significance to the case. Officials are now expanding their probe to uncover any potential larger smuggling network.

The DRI continues to investigate the case, with further questioning expected as authorities attempt to trace the origins and intended recipients of the smuggled gold.
