Bengaluru’s gold smuggling case involving actress Ranya Rao has taken a dramatic turn, with speculation about possible police involvement in her alleged crimes. Rao, who was detained at Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), reportedly claimed to be the daughter of a top police official to evade checks.

Constable’s presence raises questions
According to sources, a police constable was present at the airport, seemingly waiting for Ranya. As DRI officials took her into custody, the constable pointed at officers, allegedly receiving prior instructions from a senior police officer. This has led to concerns about insider assistance in the smuggling network.
Police intervention dismissed by DRI
Witnesses claim that after Ranya’s bold statement about her police connections, officers arrived at the airport shortly after her detention. When questioned, they stated that they had come on the orders of a higher-ranking official. However, DRI officials dismissed their intervention and sent them back.
Given these developments, there is now speculation that a senior police officer may also be investigated in connection with the case. While no official confirmation has been made, authorities are expected to probe potential links between law enforcement and the smuggling operation as the case unfolds.
