Bengaluru-based ride-hailing platform Rapido is set to introduce a taxi pooling service to Kempegowda International Airport, aiming to provide affordable and shared mobility options. The announcement was made by Aravind Sanka, Co-founder of Rapido, during the EV & Future of Mobility session at the Bengaluru Tech Summit.

Addressing the initiative, Sanka highlighted the company’s commitment to reducing transportation costs for airport commuters. “One vehicle can serve more than two customers. We’ve already launched auto pooling in Bengaluru, and now we’re extending the concept to airport rides. This will significantly lower costs for passengers, who currently spend thousands on private trips,” he said.
The service leverages resource optimization, allowing passengers heading in the same direction to share rides.
Rapido has observed positive reception for its shared ride services on popular routes within Bengaluru. However, Sanka acknowledged the challenges in navigating insurance claims and regulatory gaps in Karnataka. Despite these hurdles, he assured that Rapido is dedicated to addressing such issues.
Regarding pricing, Sanka noted that Rapido is developing a balanced framework to ensure fair earnings for drivers while keeping fares economical for customers. “Shared rides are cost-effective and sustainable, benefiting both passengers and captains,” he remarked.
The service is expected to revolutionize airport commuting by offering an economical alternative for travelers.
