Rashmi Samant, former president of the Oxford University Students Union took to twitter to announce the release of her book titled “A Hindu in Oxford”.
“At 22 years of age, as the first Indian Female President of the Oxford University Students Union, my historic election victory rapidly transformed into a distressing nightmare of bullying, harassment, & threats. It was declared that “Oxford students are not ready for a Hindu President”, compelling me to step down from my rightfully elected position. When I took a stand against this injustice, I encountered a daunting ecosystem that believes in the monopoly of narratives and abhors the Hindu Dharma. From death threats to police intimidation, every effort was made to whitewash the episode and halt the investigation. As a child of one of the world's oldest thriving faiths, which has overcome countless challenges, I firmly believe that the trials we face only serve to strengthen us. Presenting to you chronicles of the past few years, of courage & conviction, of faith & endurance, of battles won & lost, of a young Hindu girl from Udupi to Oxford & beyond… A Hindu in Oxford.” she tweeted.
Rashmi Samant has planned to donate earnings generated from the sale of the book towards the young Hindu girls in Udupi,”facing the unfair consequences of the world” as per her words.
Aiyshwara Mahadev, General Secretary of media and communications for the Indian National Congress (INC) replied to her saying,”I really hope your fake goddamn victimhood gets you somewhere! Somewhere far far away from here! Oxford didn’t think they needed you, we don’t either. Yuck!”
