Delhi police register FIR in Rashmika deepfake video

Zara Patel's face had been morphed with Rashmika's

Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar had condemned the incident

The Delhi police have registered an FIR against those who are involved in the deepfake of actor Rashmika Mandanna. Her face had been overlapped on another lady’s face. The issue had garnered the nation’s attention over how vulnerable things can get on the Internet.

Just a few days, a video creator by name Zara Patel had put out a video of herself. But that video had been cleverly manipulated in order to morph Patel’s face with that of Rashmika Mandanna.

The two videos, juxtaposed with each other, had made us understand how the sleight of hand had taken place.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan had even sought legal action against the perpetrators. In fact, union IT minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar had also put out a tweet, urging people not to resort to such fakes and also educated them on how severe the punishment would be.

Rashmika too put out a tweet saying she was hurt and wondered how susceptible the Internet is when it comes to individual security.

Zara Patel, on the other hand, clarified that she had no role to play in the entire incident.

The police have invoked sections 465 and 469 of the IPC.
