RCB’s Strategic Move
The 28-year-old Phil Salt has been a standout performer for England in T20 internationals, amassing 1,106 runs in 38 matches at a staggering strike rate of 165.32. His ability to score at a rapid pace in any scenario made him a prime target for RCB. According to the statistics analyzed by the team, Salt achieves 6-8 runs per over 28% of the time and 12-15 runs per over 30% of the time. Remarkably, he scores over 16 runs in one out of every four overs, making him a game-changer in the shortest format.

RCB was particularly keen on Salt as a solution for their opening slot, a key position in their batting lineup. His track record, which includes three international centuries and four half-centuries, further reinforced their decision.

Phil Salt’s IPL Credentials
Salt’s IPL journey began with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2024, where his 653 runs in 21 matches, including six half-centuries, played a pivotal role in KKR’s run to the finals. As an adept wicketkeeper-batsman, he brings additional depth to RCB’s squad.

With Salt in their ranks, RCB hopes to mount a strong challenge for the IPL title in 2025.
