RCB's grand victory parade celebrations took a chaotic turn as the team’s marketing head, Nikhil Sosale, was arrested following a stampede-like situation outside Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4.
Despite Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda denying permission for a “Victory Parade” from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy, RCB’s official social media handles posted details about the event and did not take them down, misleading fans.
Further confusion arose when RCB promised free tickets for the celebration and announced distribution at Gates 9 and 10 by 1 PM. However, no tickets were handed out, even as massive crowds gathered. Another post at 3 PM said entry would begin, causing panic and pressure among fans.
Among 22 stadium gates, only Gates 19, 20, and 22 were opened, worsening crowd control. The social media posts and mismanagement led to a near-stampede. The event planning was handled by DNA Entertainment under Nikhil Sosale’s direction.
Nikhil Sosale’s decisions are also seen as indirectly contributing to Commissioner Dayananda’s suspension, with questions raised about negligence in public safety planning.
